Volunteer Role Title: Reading Helper (Primary School)
Role description: Reading Helper is an adult volunteer living or working within a 5 mile radius of a school that has asked for our help. You need to commit to at least an afternoon a week for a whole year during term-time, and as we invest in your training we’d appreciate it if you could stay longer.
The role isn’t about listening to children read, but creating a relaxed session that allows children to work alongside you to discover the joy of books.
Minimum time commitment & flexibility: Minimum of 1 consistent afternoon each week throughout the school year Sessions usually run approx. 1pm-3/3.30pm.
Specific skills or experience required: Enjoy reading, confident to read aloud, proactive, flexible, reliable, patient, sense of humour, comfortable in a busy school environment.
One off volunteer taster/ drop-ins available: N/A

Other information: We can reimburse bus/train/tram tickets and mileage up to 5 miles each way.
